Zach Kedzior was born 7 weeks prematurely and the staff on the NICU ward at the Emily Harris Foundation, and Kings Mill Hospital, supported the family through those first couple of weeks of Zach’s life.

Zach has now turned seven and been inspired to take up a 150 mile cycling challenge - a challenge his family have said he is more than capable of achieving. All of the rides will be captured using Strava and he will be riding come rain or shine!

Currently, Zach has raised more than £650 and is hoping to raise far more.

Zach’s father, Gustave Kedzior, said: “Zach is quite an active boy and he was desperate to help with any fundraising efforts. We helped him come up with ideas of things to do to raise money and eventually settled on cycling.

“Zach decided to try and cycle as many miles as he could during, May. As parents we set him a goal of 100 miles, inspiring Zach to trump the suggestion by saying, ‘no, I think I can do 150 miles’.

“We’ve decided to let him try and achieve his revised goal. Today is the 11th day of his challenge, and up to this point, he has cycled a total of 54.5 miles. So he seems well on his way to reaching his target.

“We’re so proud of him. He is so caring, teachers are always telling us about how he’s always helping other kids at school who seem to need it. It’s quite rewarding to see him helping others for ourselves.”

Zach said: “The bike ride is really good. It will help me get fit. I think the money can help the hospital that once helped me so much.”
