Nominations are now being sought for members of Sherwood Forest Hospitals staff or teams for the trust’s Staff Excellence Awards.

The People’s Award is one of the categories in the trust’s awards and celebrates those members of staff who go above and beyond to deliver outstanding care or service, from porters and cleaners, nurses and doctors, through to administration staff and managers.

Anyone can nominate in The People’s Award and nominations can be made for whole departments, ward teams, an individual member of staff or support team members who work at King’s Mill Hospital, Newark Hospital or Mansfield Community Hospital.

This year Sherwood Forest Hospitals are also recognising those colleagues who went above and beyond during the Covid-19 pandemic with an additional Covid-19 specific category.

Sherwood Forest Hospitals’ chief executive, Richard Mitchell, said: “Opening up a special award to nominations from the public is a fantastic way for patients and families to show their appreciation for the dedicated people who work at Sherwood, who very often go above and beyond to provide outstanding patient care.

"This year we are including a specific Covid-19 People’s Award category so members of the public can nominate Sherwood colleagues and teams who delivered fantastic patient care and supported families during the pandemic.

“These awards aim to highlight where a team or an individual has truly made a difference and exceeded expectations.

"Your nominations, whether the individual is shortlisted or not, help Sherwood colleagues feel recognised and appreciated.

"I will write to every colleague nominated to tell them they have been recognised for the care they have provided to patients throughout the last year.”

Last year’s winner of the People’s Award was activity coordinator, Anita Edwards, at King’s Mill Hospital.

Anita Edwards said: “I was absolutely stunned when I was announced as the People’s Award winner in 2019.

"It was quite unexpected as I just do what I do in my role, but it makes me feel proud and it’s lovely that a patient’s family member took the time to give feedback and make a nomination.

"It’s an amazing feeling for any member of staff to receive this kind of feedback, never mind win an award!”
