Whole of Nottinghamshire is expected to enter tier 3 restrictions on Friday

Mansfield, Newark and Sherwood, Ashfield and Bassetlaw will join Nottingham, Broxtowe, Gedling and Rushcliffe into the Tier 3 restrictions, it has been reported.

Mansfield, Newark and Sherwood, Ashfield and Bassetlaw will join Nottingham, Broxtowe, Gedling and Rushcliffe into the Tier 3 restrictions, it has been reported.

The measures will come into effect at one minute past midnight on Friday (October 30).

The new measures will expire in 28 days and will be closely monitored by Government and local partners.

Talks between the Government and local leaders in the northern parts of the county have concluded, but negotiations are ongoing as to what the exact measures needed will be.

In a statement on his Facebook page, Ashfield MP Lee Anderson said: “Throughout the pandemic I know that the Government has been working with local leaders to target local outbreaks. However, this has led to different rules in different parts of the country, and I welcome steps being taken by the Government to simplify rules, including through the rule of six, and now through a three-tier system of restrictions.

"Following lengthy phone conversations last night and this morning to senior Government officials and other MPs, the whole of Nottinghamshire to be put into Tier 3 ‘Very High’ risk on Friday.

"This is something I strongly opposed but the latest figures are hard to argue against. Our rates are rising whilst the Citys’ are falling. “Tier 3 will bring challenges, but I will do my best to make sure our area gets the support it deserves.”
