Two people die of coronavirus in Nottinghamshire

Two more people have died of the coronavirus in Nottinghamshire, as the United Kingdom’s death toll reached 1,019.

One of the victims was an 87-year-old woman who passed away on March 26.

Dr Keith Girling, Medical Director at Nottingham University Hospitals said: “Sadly we can confirm that ten patients, that had tested positive for COVID-19, have died.”

“The patients were aged between 66 and 98, and all bar one had underlying health conditions.”

“The tenth patient died on 26 March. She was 87-years-old.”

“The families have been informed and our thoughts and condolences are with them at this difficult and distressing time.”

The other death was recorded by Sherwood Forest NHS Hospitals Trust, which runs King’s Mill Hospital, Newark Hospital and Mansfield Community Hospital.

New figures released by the government reveal that a further 260 people who have tested positive for Covid-19 have died in the last 24 hours, pushing the total number of deaths over 1,000.

The total number of cases has risen to 177, an increase of 42 from the total number of 135 confirmed on Friday, March 27.
