Two further Covid-19 deaths recorded at Sherwood Forest Hospitals as 784 more die in England

According to figures released by NHS England, today ( Saturday April 18) there have been two further deaths of patients who were being treated for the virus across King's Mill, Newark and Mansfield Community Hospital bringing the total to 71.

A further 784 people, who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 13,918.

Patients were aged between 26-100 years old - 38 had no known underlying health condition.

Key workers who will now be tested for COVID-19 after the Government extended the programme include NHS and social care staff, including hospital, community and primary care, and staff providing support to frontline NHS services and voluntary workers; police, fire and rescue services; local authority staff, including those working with vulnerable children, adults and victims of domestic abuse, and those working with homeless and rough sleepers, defence, prisons and probation staff, and judiciary, frontline benefits workers.
