Three more people from Mansfield and Ashfield die from coronavirus at Sherwood Forest Hospitals

More people have died after being diagnosed with the coronavirus at Sherwood Forest Hospitals, latest figures have revealed.

According to figures published by NHS England, three more people died while in the care of the trust, which runs King’s Mill Hospital, in Sutton, over the Easter Weekend.

One further death was recorded on Friday, April 10 at the trust, and a further two people from the Mansfield and Ashfield areas died on Sunday, April 12.

On Friday, your Chad reported that a further four people had died, with 18 more recorded deaths at the trust earlier last week. The latest figures brings deaths from coronavirus at the trust to 52 since the pandemic began.

In England, a further 744 deaths from the virus have been recorded.

Across the UK, there have now been 12,107 deaths, and a total of 93,873 confirmed cases.

The NHS trust has not yet issued a statement on the most recent deaths, or the specifics of those who have lost their lives.

The Department for Health said delays in the length of time to confirm publicly a death of somebody testing positive for Covid-19 can occur for reasons such as an individual being tested post-mortem or difficulties in tracing and informing family members.

All figures provided are given for at least one day previous.

Speaking previously, trust chief executive Richard Mitchell said: “Our thoughts and condolences remain with the patient’s family and loved ones at this difficult time."
