The data, released by NHS England, covers the period from 8 December – when the first patient in England received the jab – to 17 January, which means the actual number of people who have received their first shot of protection against Covid-19 in the county will be higher.

Hide AdIn total, 48,358, people had received at least one vaccine dose by 17 January. Of this number, 978 people have now been vaccinated twice.
The data also shows 21,510 recipients were aged 80 or over – 25 of whom have now received their second jab.
The highest number of doses for this period – 271,536 – were given in Cumbria and the North East.
