Remembrance day at Kirkby, Sutton, Skegby, Hucknall, Huthwaite and Selston.

Remembrance Day services to remember the region’s war dead went ahead amid social distancing restrictions on Sunday.

Across the Ashfield District Council region the public were encouraged to observe a doorstep two minute silence, to stay safe from Coronavirus.

Only a limited number of people from VIPs, to Royal British Legion and forces representatives, politicians and council members were in attendnce at socially distanced, more low key services, at Kirkby, Sutton, Skegby, Hucknall, Huthwaite and Selston.

Council leader Jason Zadrozny laid the wreath on behalf of ADC in Kirkby and said: “I would like to thank all the organisations who did such a tremendous job organising commemorations for Remembrance Sunday.

"Obviously, this year was completely different and I would like to thank residents for ensuring social distancing and marking the two minute silence on their doorsteps. Thousands of residents decorated their windows and were out ensuring that we don’t forget those who gave so much for us.”
