“We’ve been following up on any reports made to us about the guidelines not being followed. Where there are any issues, we’ll work with our partner agencies – such as local councils – to resolve these.
“We’ve got officers on patrol every day in every area. We’re engaging with people and explaining what the new guidance means for them.
“Anyone who sees people regularly or persistently breaking the rules should report it to us on 101 and we will factor this information into our patrols.

“I’d like to say thank you again to everyone who is following the government’s guidance. You’re helping us to focus on where we’re really needed, as well as helping to protect the NHS and ultimately save lives.”
