Number of Covid patients at Sherwood Forest Hospitals trust triples in one week

The number of coronavirus patients being treated by Sherwood Forest Hospitals has more than tripled in a week, new figures show.

The trust, which runs King’s Mill Hospital, Newark Hospital and Mansfield Community Hospital, had 35 beds occupied by Covid-19 patients on Tuesday, October 20, compared with just 11 a week earlier.

Five of those patients were on mechanical ventilation, up from two on October 13, according to data published by NHS England today, Thursday, October 22.

The data also shows that there were 12 new hospital cases of coronavirus recorded at the trust on Sunday, October 18, the last date for which information is available, compared with just four the previous Sunday.

There were 227 confirmed cases of Covid-19 recorded across Mansfield during the week to October 17 – the latest period for which reliable data is available.

The weekly rate of infection stands at 207.7 new cases per 100,000 people, having more than doubled from 97.0 the previous week.
