Nottinghamshire nurse discovers catalytic converter stolen after 12-and-a-half-hour hospital shift

A nurse finished her 12-and-a-half hour hospital shift to discovered the catalytic converter on her car had been stolen.

The offender was spotted by Queen’s Medical Centre staff from a ward window on the afternoon of Easter Monday.

The 57-year-old was arrested on Monday night under suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle and remains in police custody.

Police officers had tracked down a vehicle linked to the incident and which was found on Southglade Road in Bestwood.

Chief Superintendent Rob Griffin said: “Again, this is another example of unacceptable behaviour in Nottinghamshire.

"Catalytic converter theft is extremely troubling for the victims at the best of times, but to steal them from hospital nurse at a time when the NHS is under so much pressure from the impact of Coronavirus is absolutely despicable.

"The victim has just finished a 12-and-a-half-hour shift at the hospital and finally left to find this had happened. It must have been horrendous.”
