NHS reveals there have been more deaths from the coronavirus in Mansfield and Ashfield

More people have died at Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Trust after being diagnosed with the coronavirus, the latest figures have revealed.

According to figures released by NHS England, a further four people passed away at the trust, which runs King’s Mill Hospital, in Sutton, and Mansfield Community Hospital, a further four people have passed away.

On Wednesday, your Chad reported that another 18 people had died after being diagnosed with the virus. The latest figures brings the number of local deaths to 49 since the pandemic began.

Nationally there have been a further 866 deaths, bringing the total to almost 8,000, with 65,077 cases confirmed.

Around the world there are now 1,625,213 confirmed cases, with a total of 97,298 deaths.

The NHS trust has not yet issued a statement on the most recent deaths, or the specifics of those who have lost their lives.

The Department for Health said delays in the length of time to confirm publicly a death of somebody testing positive for Covid-19 can occur for reasons such as an individual being tested post-mortem or difficulties in tracing and informing family members.

All figures provided are given for at least one day previous.

Speaking previously, trust chief executive Richard Mitchell said: “Our thoughts and condolences remain with the patient’s family and loved ones at this difficult time."
