More than 100 people have died from coronavirus in Nottinghamshire care homes, new figures reveal

More than 100 people have died in Nottinghamshire care homes after testing positive for coronavirus a report by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) has shown, the Office for National Statistics said.

There have been 108 Covid-19 related deaths reported by care home providers across Nottinghamshire to the CQC from April 10 up to May 1.

Across England, there has been a total of 6,391 people have died in care homes after contracting the from coronavirus.

The news comes after NHS England revealed that the Covid-19 death toll at Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has surpassed 100.

A total of 102 people have died at the trust – which runs King’s Mill Hospital in Sutton and Mansfield Community Hospital – after testing positive for the coronavirus.

According to the latest government statistics, there are 1,691 confirmed coronavirus cases in Nottinghamshire show there are currently 1,691 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Nottinghamshire.

In Nottinghamshire county there are currently 1,150 people who have tested positive for the disease and 541 cases in Nottingham city.

The coronavirus death toll across England now stands at 21,750.

Trials for the new contact tracing app which aims to slow the spread of the virus are taking place on the Isle of Wight this week.

At least 50 percent of the island’s population need to download the software for the trial to be effective.
