Mixed fortunes as latest Covid-19 infection rates for Mansfield and Notts announced

Wednesday’s update for every local authority showed differing figures across the county.

Infections per 100,000 people in Bassetlaw, Mansfield and Newark and Sherwood were all up while Bolsover saw a fall.

The figures, for the seven days to December 19, are based on tests carried out in laboratories (pillar one of the Government’s testing programme) and in the wider community (pillar two).

Bassetlaw had an infection rate of 264.8 (311 cases) up from 234.1 (275 cases) while Mansfield had a rate of 244.3 (267) against the previous total of 193.9 (212).

Newark and Sherwood was up from 191.1 (234 cases) to 219.7 (269 cases).

Bolsover was the only authority in the region to show a drop, with the current rate 224.7 (181) against the previous rate of 249.5 (201).

Data for December 20-23 has been excluded as it is incomplete and does not reflect the true number of cases.
