Millions already paid out to help Ashfield businesses

Ashfield Council has already paid out £8.5 million in business grants to help businesses in the Ashfield district – and millions more to be paid out in the coming weeks.

The council has received £22 million in funding from the Government as part of its small business rate relief (SBBR) and retail, hospitality and leisure (RHL) grants.

The council has written to businesses eligible for funding and hundreds of business have already applied for the grants, which has seen individual businesses awarded £10,000 for SBBR and and up to £25,000 for RLG.

A wide range of businesses are already benefiting from the grants.

Tasha Cotterill of Kip McGrath in Ashfield said “The business grant has been very useful to us as a start-up business, as it has meant that we can carrying on tutoring within the community by moving to online learning.

And Carrie Austin, of Carrie Austin Photography, added: “The grant means I don’t have to worry about shutting the door of my studio until it is safe to reopen.”

Coun Mathew Relf, cabinet member for regeneration, said: “We urge all those that are eligible to apply for the grants.
