Mum-of-two Natalie Gillespie had the egg-cellent idea of writing to everyone on her street to ask if they could donate an Easter egg to staff working at King’s Mill Hospital in Sutton-in-Ashfield .

She said; “I've been overwhelmed with all the donations.

“It really does show that a community can come together to support our front line staff.

“I think they are doing an amazing job keeping us all safe, still having to go to work and putting themselves at risk. It was just a little bit of a thank you from everybody on the street.”

The donations included 43 eggs and several of packets of sweets.

Natalie, 33, said it had been a family effort, with daughter Libby 13 and husband Chris 35, helping to deliver the letters.

She said:“I put on the letter for them just to pop them on the doorstep and give us a knock so we can say thank you, so we weren't too close to each other. Everybody said it was a great idea.

“We took them down to King’s Mill this morning. There was a lady on the door and she said leave them with me. She thanked me very much and wished me a happy Easter and said they were really grateful for what we had done.”
