Mansfield records three more Covid-19 deaths

A further three people have lost their lives to Covid-19 within Mansfield hospitals as the death toll in the Nottinghamshire town continues to rise, latest figures have shown.

According to the most recent data released this afternoon (January 4) from NHS England, the patients died while being cared for by Sherwood Hospitals NHS Trust.

The trust, which runs Newark Hospital, Mansfield Community Hospital and King's Mill Hospital in Sutton, has recorded a total of 297 virus-related fatalities since the pandemic hit.

Across the country, NHS England said 376 more people who tested positive for coronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed deaths reported in hospitals to 51,813.

Patients were aged between 26 and 102. All except 18, aged between 34 and 102, had known underlying health conditions.

The deaths were between December 20 and January 3, with the majority being on or after December 29.

There were 11 other deaths reported with no positive Covid-19 test result.
