"Although the detail of those restrictions is still unknown, I am urging local residents to err on the side of caution and take urgent action to protect their families.
"Mansfield has the lowest infection rate in the county and credit should go to the people of this district for helping to keep cases lower by following the Hand Face Space - Keep Mansfield Safe messages."But unfortunately this virus does not respect boundaries, rates continue to increase and if we don’t go in this together with our county partners we may find ourselves in a worse situation within a couple of weeks."Everyone has to play their part in tackling and suppressing this virus."
Directors for public health for Nottingham and Nottinghamshire confirmed official statistics showing that the county now has an infection rate of 111.9 per 100,000 with the city rate peaking at 692 per 100,000 making it the highest rate in any city in England.Public health leaders believe the rising level of infections is due to community transmission across age groups and that county-wide restrictions are needed to protect vulnerable people.
