“Christmas is traditionally a time when we want to celebrate with family and friends and although there are ways we can do that safely, some things will be a little different this year.

“We are starting to see an increase in the rates in Mansfield, especially in those who are aged 60 and over, so it is vital that we take care to protect our loved ones."It’s important that we all follow the Christmas bubble rules and remember that a smaller, shorter Christmas is the safest option.“If you are shopping, shop locally and support our local market traders, shops and services who need your support now more than ever."Take particular care in busy shopping areas and remember hands, face, space – keep Mansfield safe."The vaccine will be on its way more widely in the new year and with it comes light at the end of the tunnel."Think carefully about what is best for you and your loved ones.

"If you decide not to form a bubble to see your most vulnerable loved ones in person, then there are lots of other ways to stay connected.”

“You could keep in touch by phone or video call, play games or do a quiz together online, watch the same TV programmes or listen to the same music and talk about them afterwards, cook the same recipes and eat a meal at the same time or send messages and photos through texts, emails, letters or cards.”

There are now 38 million people in the UK living under tier three restrictions.

Tiers are due to be reviewed again on Wednesday, December 30.
