Aircraft spotting at East Midlands Airport is not within Covid guidelines due to the current lockdown, and East Midlands Airport Police have been keeping a keen eye on those found breaking the rules with regular perimeter patrols, making sure they are at the airport for ‘essential reasons only’.

One man was fined £200 on Sunday evening after they were caught aircraft spotting during a police patrol – and it transpired that he had travelled over 27 miles from Mansfield.

East Midlands Airport Police tweeted: “Another covid fine issued to a male found @EMA_Airport this evening after travelling from Mansfield to watch planes.

"£200 fine for watching a plane...is it worth it? Regular patrols being conducted and you may find yourself fined if breaching the current covid restrictions.”
