Mansfield Covid stats show cases are falling - but death toll rises again

A further three people who tested positive for coronavirus have died across Mansfield, according to the latest daily statistics.

Figures released by NHS England show 356 deaths were recorded in the 24 hours to 4pm on Sunday, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 72,145.

The patients were aged between 22 and 103 years old. All except 20 – aged 50 to 96 years old - had known underlying health conditions.

Their families have been informed.

To date, 452 deaths have been recorded at Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which runs King’s Mill Hospital, Newark Hospital and Mansfield Community Hospital.

According to Government data, a total of 1,420 patients across all settings in Nottinghamshire have died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19.

There were 381 cases per 100,000 people in Mansfield in the seven days to 27 January, down 165 compared with the week before. The average area in England had 270.
