Latest health data reveals two more Sherwood Forest hospital patients died from Covid-19

A further two more patients are confirmed to have died from Covid-19 while being treated by Sherwood Forest Hospitals Trust according to the most recent health data.

Mansfield hospitals have recorded a further two deaths of patients who had tested positive for Covid-19, from the latest figures released by NHS England.

The data shows that 307 deaths were recorded in the 24 hours to 4pm on February 19, including two in Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust – which operates Mansfield Community Hospital, Newark Hospital and King’s Mill Hospital.

Sherwood Forest Hospitals Trust now has a total of 524 confirmed patient fatalities from the virus since the pandemic first hit last year.

While the number of verified, reported hospital deaths from coronavirus in England is now up to 81,046.

Across the country, the latest hospital deaths took place between January 12 and February 19, with the time taken for positive results to be received among the potential factors in a delay between a death happening and being recorded.

Patients who lost their lives to Covid-19 were aged between 16 and 100 years old and all except four people aged 16 to 68 years old had known underlying health conditions.

The NHS England data represents the deaths of hospital patients who had tested positive for Covid-19 in the previous 28 days and whose deaths were recorded in the latest reporting period.

Since April 28 2020, NHS England and NHS Improvement also started to report the number of patient deaths where there has been no Covid-19 positive test result but it is documented as a direct or underlying cause of death in the death certification process.

The figures for the latest reporting period show there were 32 such deaths in England.

According to Government data a total of 257 patients across all settings in Mansfield have died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 up to February 20.

This equates to 235.1 deaths per 100,000 people since the pandemic began, with the highest daily total being eight deaths on January 20 and 24.

Separate Office for National Statistics data shows there have been a total of 262 deaths recorded in Mansfield where the death certificate mentioned Covid-19 as one of the causes up to February 5.
