King's Mill hospital launches coronavirus helpline

A dedicated helpline is has been set up for patients receiving treatment for major illnesses at King’s Mill Hospital, to inform them how their care will change amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Sherwood Forest Hospital bosses want to ensure patients receiving treatment are given correct up-to-date information as the coronavirus pandemic means hospitals must make adjustments.

The helplines will advise patients on new appointment times, updates on hygiene guidelines and social distancing.

A specific helpline for patient receiving cancer treatment will advise on changes to appointments and treatments.

The helpline number for appointments and operations is 01623 676069. The helpline is open from 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday.

Julie Hogg, SFH Chief Nurse, said: “In line with social distancing guidance issued by the government, we are reducing all non-essential visits at this time.

“We are in the process of contacting patients. If you have a routine appointment booked and you have not heard from us, please assume we will telephone you on or around the time at which you were due to be seen in hospital and we will carry out this consultation by phone.

“We will rearrange appointments and operations as soon as possible and apologise to patients for any inconvenience or distress this causes.”

Currently no visitors are being allowed in any Sherwood Forest Hospitals sites, except for one parent accompanying a child who is a patient, a birthing partner in the maternity unit, and and carer for patients in the emergency department.

Exceptions can be discussed with ward staff if a relative is in end of life care.
