Health chiefs apologise after Covid vaccine bookings open 'too soon' for Mansfield over 40s
Health chiefs have apologised to over 40s across Mansfield after a Covid vaccination booking website stopped taking appointments for the age group this morning.
NHS Nottingham and Nottinghamshire CCG had announced on Monday morning that appointments were available to book for people 40 and over.
But the news led to the website to crash as folk desperately tried to secure their slot via the Swiftqueue website.
Now it has been confirmed that booking is currently only open to people in the 50 and over age bracket – with health bosses admitting over 40s appointments were ‘opened too early’.
A statement to Chad read: “We would like to apologise to people who have been trying to book a vaccination appointment this morning.
"The booking system was opened too early to people over 40 and has now been reset to offer appointments to people over 50. All appointments booked this morning will be honoured.
“Our teams are working exceptionally hard to vaccinate everyone as quickly as possible and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
Anyone eligible can book their Covid-19 vaccination appointment by visiting the booking link or calling the local booking line on 0115 883 4640, between 8am-8pm during weekdays and 9am-5pm on weekends.
The statement went on to say “We are working closely with the local councils during the pandemic. The county council is supporting us with managing requests for information and assistance related to the vaccine roll out so if you have any questions that are not answered by the information here please contact [email protected] or call 0300 500 80 80.”
