Covid-19 death toll at Mansfield hospitals surpasses 250

The Covid-19 death toll at hospitals across Mansfield continues to rise as latest NHS England data shows more patients have died from the virus.

A total of 11 more people have lost their lives to coronavirus while being treated by Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, the most recent data has confirmed.

The trust, which runs Mansfield Community Hospital, Newark Hospital and King’s Mill Hospital, now has a death toll of 258 since the crisis first hit back in March.

Nationwide, a further 405 people who tested positive for coronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 46,983.

A total of 82 of these deaths took place in the Midlands.

Patients were aged between 26 and 100 years old. All except 13 (aged 54 to 90 years old) had no known underlying health conditions.

The date of the deaths range from July 2 to December 21 with the majority being on or after December 18.
