Coronavirus: No new hospital deaths in Mansfield for second day

No further coronavirus deaths have been recorded at Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Trust for the second consecutive day.

Since the pandemic hit 122 people have died after testing positive for coronavirus at the trust, which runs King’s Mill Hospital and Mansfield Community Hospital.

Nationally, a further 28 people who tested positive for Covid-19 have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 27,982. That is the lowest daily increase since 21 March, before the lockdown was announced two days later.

The patients were aged between 59 and 100 years old and all had known underlying health conditions.

The government has announced 144,865 coronavirus tests were carried out in the 24 hours up to 9am on Sunday – the latest available data.

A spokesperson for Prime Minister Boris Johnson confirmed the UK’s testing capacity is currently 227,455.
