Inspector Craig Hall says the majority of people in the area are following the government’s ‘stay at home’ advice which has been designed to curb the spread of Covid 19.
In a statement he said: “The response from the majority of people in Ashfield to these new measures has been fantastic, so first of all I’d like to say thank you.

– such as local councils – to resolve these.
“We’ve got officers on patrol every day in every area. We’re engaging with people and explaining what the new guidance means for them.
“Anyone who sees people regularly or persistently breaking the rules should report it to us on 101 and we will factor this information into our patrols.
“It’s not nice to be in the house all the time – it’s hard for people, we get that. But this threat is a real one and we all need to do our bit.

helping to protect the NHS and ultimately save lives.”
The government advice is to stay at home, only leave the house for limited purposes such as infrequent shopping for basic necessities; food, medicine, one form of exercise a day, alone or with members of household, any medical need, avoid or escape risk of injury or harm, to provide help for vulnerable, work travel, only where you cannot home work. People should minimise their time outside of their household where possible and stay 2m apart outside the household.
