All recycling centres in Notts closed until further notice following UK lockdown

All 12 household waste and recycling centres in Nottinghamshire will close temporarily as of today (March 24).

A statement from Nottinghamshire County Council, who run the sites, said: “In-line with the Prime Minister’s statement last night, we have taken the decision to close all of our 12 household waste and recycling centres from today.

“The sites will remain closed until the lockdown period is lifted.

“Please do NOT place any waste you would normally take to a recycling centre in your kerbside bin.

“Instead, store this safely until we’re able to re-open the centres and continue to recycle domestic waste into your bins as advised.”

Prime Minister Boris Johnson yesterday imposed strict new measures to stop the spread of coronavirus, which has so far killed 335 people in the UK.

People may only leave home to exercise once a day, to travel to and from work, to shop for essential items, and to fulfil any medical needs.
