The visit from the 70-piece orchestra was part of the NYO’s Play The School scheme, aimed at giving inspiring musical experiences to teenagers.

Queen Elizabeth’s was one of only ten lucky schools in the UK to host the young musicians, who oversaw workshops, explained all about their instruments and set up musical flashmobs, as well as giving a powerful performance. Academy principal Kimberley Willmot said: “To hear them was a joy and a privilege.”
