Students at Tuxford Academy celebrate excellent results after a 'challenging year'

Students at Tuxford Academy, have celebrated another year of ‘excellent’ results despite it being a ‘very challenging year’.

Top achievers included Jake Trotter from Gamston, who has been awarded excellent grades in maths, further maths and physics.

Jake will be taking up his place at Newcastle University to study physics.

He said: “These results have set me on the right path for the rest of my life.”

Erin Jackson from Rampton also achieved top grades in chemistry, maths and biology.

Erin will be heading to the University of Leeds to study psychology.

She said: “I have worked really hard during my A-Levels and I’m really happy with my results, I can’t wait to start at Leeds University.”

Mr Jon Hardy, principal at Tuxford Academy said: “After what has been a very challenging year, I am very proud and pleased to see so many of our year 13 students go on to their chosen destinations.

“Throughout their time at the academy, I have been highly impressed by the dedication shown by all students, especially the resilience they have shown over the past few months.

“All students leaving today have bright futures ahead of them and I, along with all the staff at Tuxford Academy, wish every student the very best for the future.”

Miss Leanne Murphy, assistant principal for post 16 said: “It has been lovely to see the students today. I was delighted to see them back in the academy to collect their results, so we could celebrate together their success and wish them well in their chosen pathway.”
