Students at The Garibaldi and Meden schools are celebrating another year of strong post-16 outcomes, providing a powerful platform for the launch of Nova16 North, a new sixth form consortium that will expand opportunities for young people across north Nottinghamshire.

As students across the region receive their A Level and vocational qualifications today, both schools are marking results that have exceeded expectations and reflect the hard work, dedication and ambition of their students and staff.

From September, the sixth forms at The Garibaldi School and Meden School will come together under the banner of Nova16 North, combining their strengths to offer students an enhanced post-16 experience with a broader curriculum, greater subject choice and access to specialist expertise across both sites.

Ashfaq Rahman OBE, chief executive officer of Nova Education Trust, said: “Today, thousands of young people across Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire will receive their post-16 examination results and take the next steps in their educational and professional journeys.

“On behalf of everyone at Nova Education Trust, I would like to congratulate every student receiving their results today and wish them every success for the future.

“Results day is often measured by grades and destinations, but it is also a celebration of perseverance, character, resilience and personal growth.

"Behind every certificate is a young person who has worked hard, overcome challenges and continued striving towards their goals.

“For many students, today will bring excitement as they secure places at university, higher apprenticeships, employment or further training.

"For others, the path ahead may look different to the one they had originally planned. Whatever your results, it is important to remember that success is not determined by a single set of grades.

"There are many pathways to achieving your aspirations, and today's results are simply one step on a much longer journey.

“At Nova Education Trust, we are particularly delighted to see students at The Garibaldi and Meden schools achieving such strong outcomes.

"Their success reflects not only their own commitment and determination but also the quality of education and support provided by staff across both schools.

“These results are especially significant as we prepare to launch Nova16 North in September.

"By bringing together the strengths of two successful sixth forms, we will be able to offer young people even greater opportunities, a wider choice of courses and access to shared expertise, helping more students achieve their ambitions close to home.

“I would also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the many people who have helped our students reach this important milestone.

"Our teachers, tutors, teaching assistants, pastoral teams, administrators, technicians and support staff work tirelessly each day to ensure young people receive the education, care and encouragement they need to succeed.

“I am equally grateful to our headteachers, governors, trustees and wider leadership teams whose vision and commitment continue to create environments where young people can flourish.

“Most importantly, thank you to parents, carers, families and friends. Your unwavering support, encouragement and belief have helped our young people navigate the challenges and opportunities of post-16 education. Today is your achievement too.

“To every student receiving results today: be proud of how far you have come. Celebrate your achievements, learn from your experiences and step confidently into the future.

"Whatever path lies ahead, we wish you every success, happiness and fulfilment in the years to come.”

Nicki Dartnell, Nova Education Trust's strategic lead for Key Stage 5, said: “Students at The Garibaldi and Meden schools are celebrating particularly strong A Level results this summer, with both schools performing above expectation.

“What makes these results especially exciting is that they provide the foundation for Nova16 North.

"From September, our two sixth forms will work together as one consortium, giving students access to a wider range of A Level and post-16 courses than either school could offer independently, alongside the benefits of shared teaching expertise and collaborative enrichment opportunities.

“Nova16 North begins its journey from a genuine position of strength.

"These results demonstrate the quality that already exists within both schools and give us great confidence that the new partnership will open up even more opportunities, choice and success for young people across north Nottinghamshire.”
