Staff and pupils and Mansfield primary celebrate glowing Ofsted report
Staff and pupils at a Mansfield primary school are celebrating after Ofsted inspectors praised the school's unwavering commitment to ensuring every child succeeds.
Redgate Primary Academy in Somersall Street was judged to be meeting the ‘strong standard’ in all areas including achievement, inclusion and curriculum and teaching.

Principal, Claire Gouthwaite, said: “We are overjoyed that Ofsted recognised us as achieving a ‘strong standard’ in every inspected area. Inspectors highlighted our ambitious curriculum, high-quality teaching and the substantial progress children make from their individual starting points.
“This achievement reflects the hard work and dedication of our staff, the support of our families, governors and trust colleagues, and most importantly, the incredible children who make Redgate such a special place to learn and grow. We are proud of what we have achieved together and remain committed to ensuring every child continues to thrive and achieve their full potential.”
The academy - part of Diverse Academies Trust - welcomed inspectors on 9 June 2026 to be assessed against the new inspection framework.
Inspectors praised the academy's nurturing culture from the outset, stating that 'pupils enjoy attending this highly inclusive school’. The report highlights that pupils 'feel happy and safe’ and describe staff as ‘helpful’, ‘kind’ and ‘funny' adding that 'pupils want to be in school to learn’.
Ofsted praised the academy's 'well planned' curriculum and found that 'pupils receive highly effective teaching'. Inspectors also recognised that staff have 'high expectations' and pupils make 'substantial progress from their starting points', ensuring they are 'extremely well prepared for future learning and life beyond Redgate Primary Academy'.
Executive Principal, Lucy Spacey, commented: “We are incredibly proud of this recognition. Being judged as meeting the 'strong standard' in every area is a wonderful achievement and a clear reflection of dedicated staff, the enthusiasm of our pupils and support from our families.
“We are especially pleased that inspectors recognised our inclusive culture, where children feel happy, safe and eager to learn. Every day, we are committed to ensuring that pupils feel valued, supported and able to achieve their full potential, this report is a powerful endorsement of that work.”
Cat Summers, chief education officer at Diverse Academies, added: “This is an exceptional outcome for Redgate Primary Academy and the Trust under the new inspection framework. We are immensely proud of our contribution to ensuring the highest quality of provision for children with SEND in Nottinghamshire. We look forward to its continued success.”
The school was inspected under Ofsted’s new inspection framework, which no longer results in a single overall grade. Instead, schools receive a detailed report card with separate judgements across key areas of school life.
