Samworth Church Academy in Mansfield celebrates amazing A Level results despite 'unusual year'
Sixth form students at Samworth Church Academy on Sherwood Hall Road have overcome the ‘challenges of the past few months’ to achieve their targeted A Level results.
Lisa McVeigh, Principal of Samworth Church Academy, said: “In an unusual year for our students we are extremely proud of them and how they have approached recent events.
"Their results were submitted to the exam boards using all the evidence at our disposal and in the fairest way possible and so reflect the hard work that they put into their courses and their mock exams before the lock down was enforced.
“As always there are some outstanding individual achievements that are well-deserved, and we wish all our students the very best for their futures.
“Despite the challenges of the past few months, our vision for the academy remains a long-term vision and consists of an ambitious wide-ranging agenda.
"We will do everything we can to achieve this for all of our fantastic students in the years ahead."
Notable outcomes included, Oliver Hague A*A*AB, Molly Makins A*AA, Max Titterton A*AAB, Sofia Price-Killick A*AB, Evan Gardiner AAAB, Kiah-Lily Massey AAB.
Former head boy Awaad Faisal, who gained an A in maths, an A in history and a B in chemistry, is now going to the University of Manchester to study medicine.
Awaad said: “I was hoping for slightly better results but actually it doesn’t matter as long as I can go to Manchester to study.
"I have in mind that I want to work in surgery, but I am sure as I go through all the training that I will find other parts of medicine interesting, and I will stay open-minded.”
Aaron Racher achieved A* to B grades and will study Aeronautical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Leeds: “I am very grateful to Samworth Church Academy for their support and guidance over the past years.
"Since I joined in year 7, I have had many opportunities academically and vocationally including multiple sports teams, being a school captain and travelling to New York for a Round Square conference.
"The teachers and staff have been fantastic through the years and this really helped me get on the path to my future goals.”
