Mansfield teachers' video bid to cheer up students goes viral

This school has decided to try and cheer up their pupils and parents in the new trend that is sweeping through schools up and down the country.

King Edward Primary and Nursery School in Mansfield has released a video to show pupils who are currently on lockdown that they are very much missed and still in their thoughts.

Teachers and staff performed a brilliantly funny dance routine to “We’re All in This Together” from High School Musical.

From Headteacher Sue Bridges to the cleaners and caretakers, everyone got involved in the routine, filmed both at school and from teachers’ houses.

The video quickly amassed more than 5,000 views after going online Sunday afternoon, and was a big hit with parents and children.

The school is currently open for a small number of keyworker children and the staff are trying to keep up morale at what is undeniably a difficult time for their pupils.

Joanne Evans said on behalf of the school: “We think this is very apt at this time and the hope was that it would brighten up their day.

“We are missing the children lots.”

Their latest project is creating a ‘Wish Tree’ by filling an old wellington boot with sand, planting a twig and hanging wishes from the tree of things they want to do once lockdown is lifted.

These have ranged from wanting to see family and friends, to being able to go to the shops.

The video can be seen on their facebook page, along with other activities they have been doing to keep the children’s spirits up.
