Intake Farm Primary and Nursery School in Mansfield was built in 1957 and Lisa Lewis, school liaison officer and chair of the parents, teachers and friends association, says the playground had not been modernised since then.
She said: “We focus on a healthy body, healthy mind approach and the playground needed dragging into the 21st Century.

“We were just short of this when councillors Diana Meale and Paul Henshaw stepped in to bring us over the line, which we were very grateful for.”
The next stage of the project sees a new target of £40,000 to ensure the whole playground is accessible.
The school, which is rated ‘good’ by Ofsted, has around 25 per cent of children with special educational needs, including two children who are wheelchair users, so Lisa feels the next stage is vital for the school.

“The playground needs levelling out and we want to paint murals and put activity boards on the fencing for all children to use.
“Being active at playtime helps the children focus so this is a really exciting time for the school,” she said.
