Alongside Premier League Primary Stars, Mansfield Town’s FITC delivered a ‘Virtual Sports Day’ to Farmilo Primary School’s pupils, with community coaches working alongside teachers to devise challenges which pupils could do at home.

They filmed five challenges which not only showed the children how the challenges should be completed, but also how parents could set them up using household items

Premier League Primary Stars coordinator and assistant community manager Jordan Ferrer said: “This is a fantastic idea and a great way for kids to be competitive with each other whilst they are forced apart by the pandemic.

“We understand how much of an impact being separated from friendships groups can have on children, staying active and competitive is important to combat that and maintain a positive mind-set.”

Adam Jevons-Newman, Key Stage 2 and curriculum leader said: “As the circumstances meant our traditional school sports day could not be achieved this year, we wanted to give our pupils the opportunity to still be part of a whole-school event from home.

“Children across school took part and shared, via our e-learning platform, their successes.

“It was important to achieve that sense of us still being one school and all taking part in something together.

“Medals and certificates will be awarded when we can all be back together.

“I also need to say a big thanks to Mr Darby at Flying High Trust for his help.”
