Coronavirus in Mansfield: Decision on school closures in England ‘imminent’

With 1,950 confirmed cases as of yesterday, schools are closing for the protection of staff and pupils.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson said today: “The House should expect further decisions to be taken imminently on schools and how to make sure we square the circle both of making sure we stop the spread of the disease but also making sure we relieve, as much as we can, pressure on our NHS.”

Sutton Community Academy – closed to year eight pupils, due to ‘significant levels of staff absence’.

St Mary Magdalene C of E – closed to Foundation and Year one, and years 2-6 are still to attend school as normal.

Newlands Junior School – closed for the next two weeks because of staff absences.

Mansfield Primary Academy – closed until Monday April 20 due to staff absences.

The Samworth Church Academy – closed to years nine and ten until Friday, March 20

Yeoman Park Academy – closed to all years, expected to re-open on Monday April 20

Dukeries Academy – closed to year eight, expected to return to normal on April 17.

Birklands School – closed to nursery, reception and year one until further notice

Meden School – closed to years nine, 10 and 13. Years seven, eight, 11 and 13 are to attend as normal.

Selston High School – closed to year eight tomorrow and Friday, year nine today and Friday, year ten today and tomorrow

Brunts Academy – closing at 2.50pm today

Queen Elizabeth's Academy – fully closed

The Garibaldi School – closed to years nine, 10 and 12 until further notice

Wainwright Primary Academy – fully closed until further notice

Samuel Barlow Primary Academy – fully closed until further notice
