College's virtual classes and fun sessions helping ease community isolation amid crisis

The ATT Further Education College has organised everything from morning Tai Chi sessions, to writing competitions, pebble painting, to maths puzzles, art projects, health and beauty advice, exercise and gardening tips on a new community ‘Facebook page ATTFE College in the Community’ group.

Hide AdRetford, has organised the new online activities and virtual lessons to help people during the Covid 19 outbreak as people are urged to stay at home.
Every day starts at 8am, with a video by a Tai Chi tutor demonstrating breathing techniques. There are daily themes such as Motivational Monday, Take a Break Tuesday, Word Wednesday (as well as ongoing Well-being Wednesday), Thumbs up Thursday and Find the pattern Friday.
Spokesperson for the college Charlotte Birch said: "Many people are taking time to personally message ATTFE College to thank them for the work that they are doing and support in their time of need.
"As Covid-19 came to light, the college mobilised swiftly to set up the ATTFE College Community Facebook Group. It aims to support community members, vulnerable learners, staff members, parents, carers and families.

Hide Ad“We will use this platform to share information, create a volunteer network to support other members within the community who may be struggling.”
“The group is very much learner led and will be a light within our communities. It will connect, scaffold, care for all during what will inevitably be a challenging time. In addition, the thread of lifelong learning will be securely embedded throughout.”
