The college, which has its main campus on Derby Road, Mansfield, boasted a 100% pass rate for its A-level students in 2020 and with the dedicated new A-level college opening in Mansfield’s town centre, is getting new students ready for more great learning opportunities and success.

It is listed as one of the best colleges in the region and has been praised by Ofsted in a recent visit for its huge success with online learning while students have been at home.

So if it’s A-levels you want to pursue there are now twenty subjects all under one roof for you to choose from. And, with the 2+1 option you can choose two A-levels and one vocational course to enhance your learning experience. With this option you’ll have the chance to get hands-on training and experience work placement time in real employment settings.

Some of the other popular ‘hands-on’ subjects include the construction crafts such as wood occupations, plumbing and electrical studies – all designed to equip you with the professional skills needed in today’s construction industry.

Many of our hands-on vocational courses are BTECs. The college offers up to 100 of these technical courses up to Level 3. The college is very excited to be introducing automation and robotics courses to its classrooms at the Engineering Innovation Centre in Sutton-in-Ashfield.

With a total project cost of £900,000, the training centre will focus on automation and robotics to meet the demands of local businesses and support the education of up to 470 students.

Impressive new machinery and technologies will introduce students to hydraulic and pneumatic hybrid workstations which will enable them to test and fault find equipment.

Robotics and automation in engineering are set to increase significantly over the next decade meaning there’s a need for skilled people who can service, repair and understand machinery and robotic equipment.

Principal and chief executive Andrew Cropley said: “As well as offering our students high-quality skills in the classroom we pride ourselves on getting them equipped with those essential life skills and the ability to be ‘work-ready’ with the attributes that employers need to see in their workforce.

“We’re also delighted that we can offer some great new programmes in robotics and automation very soon.

“Embracing these new technologies is critical if we are to play our part in making Mansfield and Ashfield thriving, prosperous communities.”

A careers team is available at the college to offer advice and tutorials on interview skills and techniques, and there's a wide range of student support services, from additional learning support to advice on financial matters and health and wellbeing.
