Under a week to go until football legend Nigel Clough opens Jerry Green Dog Rescue’s new Forest Town charity shop

With less than a week to go, excitement is reaching new heights as Jerry Green Dog Rescue prepares to unveil its brand-new charity shop in Forest Town on Tuesday 2nd December, and the charity is thrilled to confirm that Mansfield Town manager and dog-lover Nigel Clough will be there to cut the ribbon.
Nigel will officially open the shop at 2:00pm, helping mark a proud milestone for the much-loved charity. With the countdown now firmly on, Jerry Green Dog Rescue is inviting the local community to join what promises to be a warm, lively celebration filled with dog lovers, bargain hunters and supporters of all ages.
Speaking ahead of the opening, Nigel Clough said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be supporting Jerry Green Dog Rescue and to help celebrate the opening of their new Forest Town shop. Their work transforming the lives of dogs in need is truly inspiring, and it’s wonderful to see the local community rallying behind such a great cause. I’m really looking forward to meeting everyone on the day.”
Since opening its Blidworth rehoming centre in 2015, Jerry Green Dog Rescue has become firmly rooted in Nottinghamshire’s community, rehoming hundreds of dogs in need. The new Forest Town shop, located at Unit C, Sandlands Court, Fulmar Close, NG19 0GG, becomes the charity’s sixth retail location across Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire, each one helping raise the vital funds that give abandoned and unwanted dogs a second chance.

With opening day just around the corner, the charity has revealed a line-up of family-friendly fun planned for the celebration, including:
• An appearance from Rusty, the charity’s favourite dog mascot
• Puppacinos for visiting four-legged friends
• Free balloons for children

• The chance to meet the Jerry Green team and hear heartwarming rescue stories first-hand
Visitors will be able to browse a hand-picked selection of pre-loved clothing, homeware and unique treasures, with every purchase helping transform the lives of dogs who need expert care and a second chance.
Lynne McMahon, Head of Retail at Jerry Green Dog Rescue, said: “Forest Town has a fantastic community spirit, and we can’t wait to celebrate with local people on opening day. Since establishing our Blidworth centre in 2015, Nottinghamshire has shown incredible support for our work. This shop is a new way for everyone to get involved, whether by donating, shopping, or volunteering, and every action helps transform the lives of dogs who need us.”
As the countdown continues, Jerry Green Dog Rescue is calling on supporters to donate quality pre-loved goods and encouraging anyone interested in volunteering to get in touch. From sorting stock to greeting customers, every helping hand will make a meaningful difference in the days leading up to the opening, and beyond.
The grand opening will take place on Tuesday 2nd December at 2:00pm at the new Jerry Green Dog Rescue Charity Shop, Unit C, Sandlands Court, Fulmar Close, Forest Town, Mansfield, NG19 0GG.
The charity is encouraging local residents to come along, meet Nigel Clough, snap a selfie with Rusty, grab a bargain, and discover how even the simplest purchase can change a dog’s life.
