NPS fishing for charity

The Nottingham Piscatorial Society held its annual Presidents Challenge match and raised £1000 for local charity

As Nottingham Piscatorial Society President this year, it was the responsibility of the 2025 President and NPS member, Frank Hudspeth, to organise the Presidents Challenge fishing competition. Frank said that “to describe it as a privilege would be an understatement”.

The invitations were sent out and donations poured in almost immediately.

The generosity of fellow NPS members came as no surprise, not only from those who participated in the match but also from members who were unable to attend.

On the day of the event, Kev Berry (Competitions Secretary) generously donated the proceeds of the raffle to the fund which Frank had nominated to be the Beaumond House Hospice Care,

Frank extended his heartfelt gratitude to all the participants and a special thanks to Kev for serving as match secretary on the day.

After the match, Frank explained that the reason for selecting Beaumond House as his nominated charity was that a friend of his, who lived alone, had been terminally ill and blind. Beaumond House provided his friend with respite care, during which Frank witnessed the love and attention given to all their patients. Paul (Franks friend) often said that his time at Beaumond House was incredibly special to him.

Frank expressed his appreciation to all the participants of the competition, for the exceptional quality of the banter, which he described as “unparalleled”.

Another significant thank you went out for the donations, having raised £445, which the Committee, on behalf of the NPS, generously matched and rounded up to £1000.

On Monday 8th September, Dale Whittaker (Secretary) and Mark Morris (Chairman) and I had the honour of presenting the cheque to the Beaumond House CEO, Ms. Louise Sinclair, and fellow nurses, along with our best wishes and gratitude for providing such a vital service when it is needed the most.
