East Midlands Mayor Claire Ward Visits ATTFE College’s new High Street Learning Centre

On Tuesday 25 November, East Midlands Mayor Claire Ward visited ATTFE College’s innovative new High Street Learning Centre in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire.
Located on Low Street, right in the heart of the town centre, the ‘ATTFE in the Community’ venue offers an extensive range of learning opportunities for both young people and adults.
It also provides space for vital community support services and agencies, including Health and Police partners.
During her visit, the Mayor toured the facilities, met learners and staff. She spoke with them about their experiences and aspirations and talked about the college’s various courses available to the community and about the amazing work done by the community and ATTTFE College volunteers.

Whilst at the Learning Centre, she also took part in a short Stop the Bleed training session, part of ATTFE College’s essential #InThisTogether – Stop the Bleed campaign, which aims to equip the public across the East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA) region with life-saving trauma intervention skills.
Mayor Ward saw first-hand how ATTFE College’s new community hub removes barriers to education by offering highly accessible learning in an inclusive, welcoming environment.
She also recognised its significant contribution to town centre regeneration and community wellbeing.
The Mayor praised the centre as an exemplar model that other education and training organisations could learn from.
Speaking during the visit, Mayor Claire Ward said: “I think this is a great idea. Not only because it’s providing the skills that our young people and our adults need right across this community, but it also providing that regeneration of the high street. They will also feel a real sense of pride about Sutton by coming and learning at this centre. Well done to ATTFE College.”
