Mansfield District Council portfolio holder for Wellbeing, Health and Safer Communities, Councillor Angie Jackson, was on-hand to present the cheque.

Councillor Angie Jackson said: “I was delighted to join residents from the Forest Town allotments as they received a charitable donation from Olivia at Persimmon homes.

“The allotments are an important resource in our community, providing a space which is good for body and mind.

“The allotment holders are planning to create a community space with an orchard, and this donation will help towards achieving that.

“I'd like to thank Persimmon homes for their contribution and support for our community.”

Alan Carrington said: “On behalf of Forest Town Allotments Association we would like to say a big thank you for choosing us to receive a Persimmon Homes Community Champions funding grant of £2,000.

“It will help us tremendously to bring forward our plans to do future projects, to make the allotments a better place and bring the community together.

“We can now introduce more fruit trees, flower beds and a bug hotel in the community garden to attract more wildlife. We can also increase more water linesman and taps and repair and purchase new machinery when necessary. We will be sending out a survey to all our members on what other projects they would like to see happen.

“Once again, a massive thank you to all at Persimmon Homes and all the best for the future.”

Robbie Steel, Persimmon Nottingham said: “It was a real pleasure to visit Forest Town Allotments and meet Alan and the team. Our Community Champions scheme exists to support local organisations, events, and initiatives that make a real difference in the communities where we build
