Cleaning with care: Domestic Assistant at Hucknall care home scoops prestigious accolade at Proud to Care Nottinghamshire Awards

Staff and residents at a Hucknall care home are celebrating the remarkable achievements of their teenage Domestic Assistant after he won a prestigious accolade at the Proud to Care Nottinghamshire Awards.
17-year-old Jack Wilmott, who joined Milford Care’s Buddleia House care home, on Croft Avenue, earlier this year, took home ‘Best Newcomer’ at the annual awards.
Since joining Buddleia House, Jack has quickly proven himself to be a true asset to the team, demonstrating the dedication, maturity and empathy that make the Hucknall home stand out.
Quiet and reserved in his first few months, Jack has grown into a confident and caring advocate for the residents, always going the extra mile to ensure their needs are met with kindness and respect. From remembering the smallest details, like a resident’s tea order, to offering a respectful greeting to a former police officer, Jack’s natural ability to connect with residents is described as “truly extraordinary”.
One colleague noted: “Jack does what some with decades in care still struggle to do. He listens, acts and genuinely cares.”
Alisha Hussain, Home Manager at Buddleia House, said: “We couldn’t be prouder of Jack. His recognition at the Proud to Care Awards is so well deserved. He embodies everything we strive for here at Buddleia House – care that is delivered with respect, compassion and a commitment to making a real difference to the lives of our residents.”
The Proud to Care Nottinghamshire Awards, organised by Nottingham County Council, celebrate excellence in social care, highlighting individuals and teams who go above and beyond to provide compassionate, inclusive care.
