Nottinghamshire trekking centre’s plea to help feed the horses

Orwner Karen Green says the cost of feeding the animals, which includes 20 horses, sheep and an emu, is more than £350 a week in feed and hay alone.

She has now launched a Go Fund Me page which aims to raise £10,000 from generous donations.

“It has taken us years to get our business going and this last year we had finally got it to where we wanted to be until this has stopped us in our tracks,” she said.

“We have never asked for help before as we have always been the one to help others and have always been proud of that fact.

“It would destroy us to have to close the trekking centre through this pandemic as we have made so many people happy and we have some lovely customers and it’s for the customers we have to try and fix this.

“We have catered for all abilities and love the fact that beginners that come though our gates terrified all leave with huge smiles and a sense of satisfaction that they have conquered some fears they had.

“We have brought a little bit of history back into the village by trekking through Edwinstowe’s historical village and love chatting with our customers of the legend “Robin Hood” when we trek through the well known “Sherwood Forest”

“The children and people love to see us come down the high street with our horses and wave to us, we get tourists often take photos and as a whole we get to help the village by sending tourists into the village shopping or for meals out after their trek.

“This for us is the best feeling ever and this is why we want to continue with your guys help.

“We pray it’s over soon but in the mean time we need to make sure all our horses and animals still get the best care and that we can afford to stay open when this is over and make many more people smile again! Any help would be greatly appreciated.”
