Nottinghamshire housebuilder donates £1,500 to mental health charity
Improving Lives Notts has received a £1,500 donation from Barratt and David Wilson Homes North Midlands, helping support adults who have a diagnosed mental health condition.
Since 2012, Improving Lives Notts has provided long term one-to-one personalised support to help people address practical barriers to wellbeing.
Its support also consists of a comprehensive programme of free to attend social groups and activities, a befriending service as well as Safety Net support to prevent ad hoc issues further impacting a person’s wellbeing journey.
Jennie Birch, communications and fundraising officer at Improving Lives Notts, said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to Barratt and David Wilson Homes for supporting the work of Improving Lives and helping us to continue to meet the needs of the community that we serve.
“We think the Community Fund Scheme is brilliant and is genuinely making a difference to the level of impact small charities can have.
“Donations like this not only help us to carry on delivering our core service but also help us to evolve to meet the growing and changing needs of the people that we support.
"We apply for many small grants, but these are often restricted spending pots and don’t allow the freedom to respond to the changing needs of the organisation.”
The donation was made as part of The Barratt Redrow Foundation, which is designed to support national and local charities in the communities in which the housebuilder operates.
In the 12-month period to September 2025, 133 service users engaged with safety net support from Improving Lives.
This resulted in 299 one-to-one sessions attended and 618 instances of support also provided by telephone, email, and text.
Service users have contacted the team as and when they felt overwhelmed by the challenges of daily life, or when they needed help to address a particular or unexpected issue.
Mark Cotes, managing director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes North Midlands, said: “Improving Lives Notts does vital work helping people overcome barriers and build brighter futures and we’re proud to support an organisation that makes such a tangible difference across Nottinghamshire.”
“This donation will ensure Improving Lives Nottingham can continue to keep all its social activities free to attend for everyone.”
