The brightly-coloured handcrafted treats are made by Project D, a Derby-based company which is expanding its service into Mansfield after requests from sweet-toothed fans in the region.

The company, which has almost 24,000 followers on Instagram, were commissioned to create doughnuts for a Love Island after show party, for London Fashion Week and an order was even placed for staff and residents at Windsor Castle.

When lockdown began the company furloughed its staff but, after changing their business model to a home delivery service, they have brought staff back to work and recruited even more.

The highlight of the company’s first year was being asked to create 60 doughnuts decorated with royal crests for Windsor Castle.

Jacob Watts, Project D co-owner, said: “We will never know if the Queen tried them, but we like to think Harry and Meghan might have shared one before they left for America, the home of doughnuts.”

The doughnuts cost £11 per box, plus delivery, click here or follow @project.doughnut on Instagram.
