Firm joins client in saddle

Mansfield-based firm TIS took to the saddle with client British Gypsum by joining the company for a 100-mile cycle ride to support the Guide Dogs For The Blind Association.

The firm joined a 100-strong cycling team from British Gypsum for the ride after successfully completing a contract to provide security systems for the plasterboard giant at its Loughborough site in Barrow-upon-Soar

The team from TIS was invited to take part in the gruelling 100-mile cycle from Barrow-upon-Soar to Skegness by British Gypsum’s electrical engineer Graham Pell.

Chris Catchpole, project manager at TIS, said: “It was a great opportunity to be a part of the ride and support our new customer. It was a fantastic atmosphere and everyone encouraged one another to keep going – A truly memorable day.”

The ride - which was organised to raise funds to help support the Guide Dogs For The Blind Association - brought a mixture of weather conditions. But that didn’t stop participants from reaching the finish line with a ride time of just over six hours.

Head of installations, Mark Wilson, said: “The invitation from British Gypsum to take part in the ride was really appreciated and we were more than willing to take part and add our support through sponsorship.

“It also gave us a great opportunity to meet additional members of the team and help build on our working relationship. Winning the contract was a real coup for TIS and reinforces our experience and expertise in the sector. We go the extra mile - or 100 in this case - as relationships are at the heart of our success.”

TIS successfully beat off stiff competition from across the UK to win the contract to design, deliver and install fire protection for British Gypsum.

TIS not only designed and installed the new state-of-the art fire detection system from market leaders GENT, but also had to ensure the existing older system was still fully operational until the new system was tested and ready to go live.

British Gypsum is a leading UK manufacturer of interior lining systems for the construction industry.

British Gypsum’s Graham Pell added: “It was great to receive both financial support and participation from one of our local suppliers.”
