Specialist healthcare business broker NGA Care announced the recent sale of Red Oaks Community Care on behalf of Red Homes Healthcare Group, to regional care home operators RKP Investments Ltd.

The home, on Clipstone Road West, which has 17 residents but could accommodate up to 40, was rated “requiring improvement” by the Care Quality Commission last December.

The home’s operations director Jill Andrew said Red Oaks would continue as a home and its staff had been retained.

She said “We want to improve, we are refurbishing and have launched a major recruitment drive.

"We want to enhance a better environment for our residents and staff and are doing our utmost to implement good policies and procedures.

"We put a service improvement plan in place in the first week.

"We have about 28 staff, but hope to take on around 10 people, boosting staffing by a third.

"It’s been tough during the pandemic, but we are grateful to our staff and will support them through the changes.”

Chief executive of Red Homes, Roger Daniel, said: “We handed over the stewardship of Red Oaks this month, not an easy decision, but the past 12 months has been hugely challenging for us and Mansfield is just too far a distance for us to continue to manage indefinitely.

“We took on Red Oaks in 2016, as it was in dire need of support.

"I feel immensely proud of the work our devoted team has put into this home for its existing and future residents and their families, I know its loyal staff will continue to go from strength to strength under its new owners.

“Mansfield is a great part of Nottinghamshire with an incredible sense of community and we have enjoyed getting to know our families and support networks within the area.

"The CQC has provided wonderful support throughout and we thank them wholeheartedly. Unfortunately, it is just a stretch too far from our other homes for our central team and feel this is the right decision for this lovely home, its staff, residents and their families.

“Our vision at Red Homes is to deliver outstanding care and support our residents and their families, focusing on quality.

"As we go forward, we can put even more energy into our homes in Newark and Grantham and will be investing in our property and training department to ensure we continue to improve the quality of care we provide.”

Nick Greaves, managing director at NGA Care which handled the sale, said the new owners were “experienced operators of a number of high quality homes across the East Midlands.”

He said “The quality of the care home asset and the provision of care that the staff are providing is second to none. It has been a pleasure dealing with Roger and despite the challenges brought about by the pandemic, we are extremely pleased to have concluded the deal.

“We generated multiple offers on this business, the market is very active and we urgently require further care homes in all areas for waiting buyers.”
