Chicken fans are getting more places to get their peri-peri fix, as one chain gears up for one of its biggest UK expansions in years.

Off the back of soaring sales and a sharp rise in profits, chicken giant Nando’s has confirmed it will open 14 new restaurants across the country, meaning easier access to sunset burgers, halloumi sticks and extra-hot wings for thousands of customers.

The rollout includes several sites that have quietly opened in recent months, alongside a wave of new launches planned between now and February.

It follows a strong year for Nando’s, which opened 12 UK venues a year earlier and says demand for its flame-grilled chicken is showing no sign of slowing.

The company’s latest accounts reveal that revenue climbed 8% to £1.48 billion in the year to February 23, 2025, as “strong customer demand” helped drive higher sales volumes.

Operating profits more than doubled too, rising from £59.8 million to £146.6 million, boosted by stronger sales and a one-off receipt.

Despite the upbeat results, Nando’s warned that rising wage and tax costs, along with continued pressure on ingredients and utilities, are expected to weigh on the business this year.

The group says it is tackling increased costs through productivity improvements, including rolling out more energy-efficient grills across its UK and Ireland restaurants.

Rob Papps, Nando’s group chief executive, said the brand is continuing to invest heavily in growth.

He said: “We see significant potential in all our markets… with further menu innovation, digital enhancements and new restaurant openings planned, including 14 in the UK.”

Alongside boosting its domestic presence, Nando’s says it also hopes to grow its international footprint and increase the number of company-owned locations worldwide.
